Encore Courses in District 62 consist of classes at the middle school level
Science Technology Mathematics & Engineering (STEM)
In STEM courses, students will learn about and engage in activities supporting the following areas of study through Project Lead the Way (PLTW):
- As 6th graders in Design and Modeling, students discover the design process and develop an understanding of the influence of creativity and innovation in their lives.
- As 7th graders in Flight and Space, students become engineers as they design, prototype, and test models to learn about the science of flight and what it takes to travel and live in space.
Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS)
In Family and Consumer Science (FACS) courses, students will learn about and engage in activities supporting the following areas of study:
- Nutrition, Clothing Care (Laundry, Stain Treatment, Dry Cleaning), Clothing Production (Equipment, fasteners, stitches), Careers, Financial Literacy, Safety, Sanitation and Food Borne Illness, Kitchen Equipment, Reading a Recipe, Measurement in the Kitchen, and Etiquette and Manners
