Soaring to New Heights in Drone Soccer Club

Two individuals, a man and a woman, are standing in a school hallway with wooden paneled walls and a tiled floor. The background includes various signs and decorations, suggesting an educational setting.
Iroquois

Iroquois Community School, along with Algonquin Middle School and Chippewa Middle School, received a generous grant from Rivers Casino to start a Drone Soccer Club.

The grant was submitted by Iroquois Community School Library Media Specialist Ms. Cathy Borge.

As it is the first year of the club, both the teachers and the students are learning what drone soccer is and how to build and perfect their own drones.

Students are working in pairs to assemble their own drones from a kit. The students had to mount four small motors to the blades of the drone, making sure they work together to enable the drone to fly properly.

The students used an instructional card that came with the drone to help them figure out what screws needed to go where.

The students are looking forward to flying their drones and competing against their fellow district middle schools next year!
