District Celebrates New Accessible Playground!

District Celebrates New Accessible Playground!
CCSD62

On May 16 Community Consolidated School District 62 held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate that grand opening of a new, fully accessible playground at Cumberland Elementary School.

Playground renovations took place at Cumberland, as well as at Forest Elementary School, this spring.

“This project marks a significant step in fostering inclusivity and providing a safe and engaging play space for all children,” said Superintendent of School Dr. Michael Amadei. “We are happy to see our students already enjoying this playground and look forward to sharing this space with our community as well.”

Both playgrounds feature a variety of universally designed equipment that cater to a range of physical and developmental abilities, allowing for children to enjoy the new site.

This project was made possible through the generous support of Rivers Casino.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to Rivers Casino as they were instrumental in bringing this vision of ours to life,” said Dr. Amadei. “We thank Rivers for their support and generosity. They have truly made a difference for children in our community.”

Another ribbon cutting is expected at Forest in the future.
