Ashley Patterson Named Assistant Principal of North Elementary School
Des Plaines--Ashley Patterson was named assistant principal of North Elementary School at the July 17 Board of Education meeting.
“I am immensely excited to join North as assistant principal this coming school year,” said Patterson. “District 62 and North, specifically, have demonstrated steps toward providing more equitable education for a diverse population which closely align to my values as a school leader.”
In 2008, Patterson earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and continued her educational pursuits by earning a Master of Elementary Education and a Master of Public Administration from University of Illinois at Chicago in 2013. Patterson graduated National Louis University in 2017 with an Educational Specialist Degree (Ed.S.) in pursuit of a career in educational leadership.
“Ashley Patterson has all of the qualities we were looking for in a dynamic leader at North,” said Principal Carolyn Allar. “During the interview process, the team was impressed with her values in providing an equitable education for all and her ability to build strong relationships with all stakeholders.”
Patterson began her career in Chicago Public Schools as an educator. After 10 years of teaching, she became an assistant principal in 2022.
Patterson has been an active part of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church remaining connected to her community as a missionary and servant leader. She enjoys many activities but favors outdoor activities, comedy shows, live entertainment, trivia, and escape rooms.
Said Patterson, “I aspire to help lead North into an even brighter future where students excel in all areas of life and families have the support they need to help their children prosper.”
