Rally Coach Math Review

Two young girls, one with long dark hair and the other with lighter hair, are sitting at a desk and engaged in a conversation or activity together in a classroom setting with educational posters and materials visible in the background.

Cumberland Elementary School Fifth Grade Teacher Mr. McKelvey created a math review that went over all of the different types of problems that could be expected on the MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) test the students will soon be taking.

The review focused heavily on the concepts of decimals and fractions.

For the review the students paired up and followed the Kagan technique called "Rally Coach."

Each student in the pair took turns either being the coach or solving the math problems.

The student who wasn't the coach worked on solving all of the problems on the worksheet, while their rally coach guided them on how to solve the problems.

The students enjoyed working on the review and strengthening their math skills together.
