Second-grade students in Ms. Hamman's Class had a blast playing Banana Split Tag and a fun ball-tag game outside.

The class began with Ms. Hamman's student teacher, Mr. L, explaining how to play Banana Split Tag.

Two students were given soft pool noodles to try to tag others in the gym. When a student was tagged, they had to stay in place with their hands raised together.

Other classmates could save them by "peeling the banana" to free them from the spot.

The students started by walking around the gym, then moved on to skipping, and eventually running.

Many students had a chance to be "it" and try to tag their classmates. Later, the rules changed so that two students were needed to save a classmate instead of just one.

After a few more rounds, Mr. L had the students sit in the center of they gym and asked for a volunteer to help demonstrate the next game.

For the next game, students played catch with a ball. When the music stopped, the student holding the ball became "it" and had to try to tag their partner before the music started again.

Mr. L showed the students a technique to make throwing easier: extending their arms, folding one in, and then releasing the ball.

After demonstrating how the game worked, the class went outside to play on the field.

Students selected partners and began playing catch. Some started close together and then moved farther apart to challenge themselves.

When the music stopped, they ran around trying to tag each other, having a great time outdoors.

Using the throwing technique Mr. L showed them, the students worked on increasing their distance and accuracy until the game was over.
