Algonquin
Gina DeRaimo, Senior Vice President and Head of the Options Institute at Cboe Global Markets, visited the AMS Math Chicks Club to talk about stocks, trading, and investing and how it relates to math.
In preparation for DeRaimo's visit, every student in the sixth grade received a "stock."
They were asked to monitor their stock throughout the day in hopes their stock would either have the most growth in dollars or the highest percent return.
Ms. Bridget Barry, Math Interventionist Teacher at AMS, said there was a buzz to the sixth graders all day long, trading stocks with one another and checking trend lines.
After DeRaimo's presentation, the students worked on different math problems that related to the topic.
A select group of eighth grade girls joined the sixth graders to support them as they connected math to money earned or lost.
