Algonquin
Music therapy is offered at Algonquin Middle School through the Structured Teaching Education Program (STEP) every other week.
The music therapy is provided through Dynamic Lynks, a company based out of Oak Park.
The program focuses on using music and movement as a way of helping children grow and develop different skills.
Special Education Teacher Ms. Morgan Mueller said music therapy helps the students work on strengthening their social, emotional and communication skills.
Mueller said during the therapy sessions the students participate in offer different creative experiences, including active music making and receptive learning.
