Algonquin
In March Algonquin Middle School Mariachi musicians (Mariachi Los Zafiros Azules) traveled to Maine West High School to perform for the annual Inspira Latino Summit.
These musicians joined the Maine West Mariachis to perform three songs as one large group. This is the second year that these two groups have combined to celebrate Mexican heritage through song.
Under the direction of AMS Orchestra Director and Music Teacher Ms. Kristin Vaziri, the AMS Mariachi Los Zafiros Azules is currently in its fourth year at AMS and continues to grow each year!
The Mariachi band is scheduled to perform at several District 62 events this spring, including the Forest Elementary Cultural Fair, the Algonquin Middle School Cultural Fair, the Orchard Place Elementary School Día del Niño and the Cumberland Elementary Cultural Fair.
