On Wednesday, November 20, AMS's eighth grade girls participated in an engaging Math Chicks presentation designed to inspire interest and build confidence in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math).

Four women from BMO's Women in Technology & Operations visited the students, sharing their passion for their careers while leading a variety of hands-on activities.

The students made oobleck (a mixture of cornstarch and water), created blind drawings and built cars from basic materials, all while exploring how these activities relate to real-world work experiences.

They also discussed strategies for troubleshooting and improving their projects in future attempts.

Algonquin Middle School Math Teacher Ms. Lakota-Gudas said the staff and students are grateful to the inspiring Math Chicks presenters from BMO for their time and energy.

The eighth grade girls left the session feeling more knowledgeable and empowered!
