AMS Student of the Week & Staff Member of the Month
Algonquin
Every week, our 11 teams choose one student who has stood out and names them Student of the Week.
We have a different focus each month, but the main characteristics we are looking for are persistence, kindness, initiative and effort.
Either myself or Ms. Tzortzis, the assistant principal, call the winner's home every Friday afternoon to share the good news. Considering our teams have 60 or more fantastic students, winning this award is a great accomplishment.
Every Friday students announce the Students of the Week over the morning announcements. The students then come down to the office to get their certificate from Mr. Jones or Ms. Tzortzis.
It is the first of the month, so one of the best AMS traditions is here: awarding Staff Member of the Month.
We had almost 60 submissions, and the following people were nominated multiple times: Ms. Folinazzo, Mr. Hanley, Ms. Flemming, Ms. Williams, Ms. Sargent and Ms. Wengerhoff.
The winner of the month is Brad Kitzerow!
Brad is so knowledgable about everything and supportive to all staff members! Brad is an unsung hero at AMS. He leads others quietly and thoughtfully; always focused on the best interests of staff and students. Brad is always the voice of reason, and staff and students feel comfortable seeking him out when needed.
