Algonquin
Our 6th grade girls got a math boost this week when four professional women came for a visit to Algonquin!
A new initiative called Math Chicks provides opportunities for our students to hear from women who use math everyday in their careers.
On August 26, our 6th grade girls learned how a golf professional, an ER nurse and 2 landscape architects use math skills to perform their jobs.
They did math problems about golf putting percentages, calculating medication dosages, and figuring out square meters for planting a garden.
We hope that real world math applications and meeting women math mentors will have a positive impact on our Math Chicks!
