Permissive Transfer

The Board of Education of Community Consolidated School District 62 believes in the concept of the “neighborhood school.” Absent good or substantial reason, it is the desire of the District to have children in grades K-8 attend their “neighborhood” school whenever possible.

A group of young students, dressed in colorful outfits, are walking together towards a yellow school bus in the background.
Two students, a boy and a girl, are working on a project together in a classroom setting, surrounded by shelves and storage units filled with various educational materials.
A young boy in a blue shirt is intently looking through a microscope in what appears to be a classroom or laboratory setting.

School Board Policy 7:30 addresses the topic of student transfers within the district. The policy indicates that students shall be assigned to attend the school that serves the attendance area in which they reside on a full-time basis. A student’s parent(s) and/or guardian(s) may request that the student be transferred to a District school other than the one to which the student was assigned due to specific family or student needs. Approval shall not be granted as a matter of simple convenience or preference on the part of the parent or guardian. All requests are to be made via the below form.

English - Request for Permissive Transfer 25-26 School Year

Español - Solicitud de Transferencia Permisiva - Año Escolar 25-26

Русский- Запрос на разрешенный перевод – 2025-2026 учебный год

A young person in a blue jersey is running on a grassy field, with a person in the background walking on the same field.
A young child with messy blond hair is smiling and holding a microphone in what appears to be a classroom or studio setting.
A young person, wearing a blue sweater, is holding a violin and looking intently at the camera.

Students currently attending a school based on a previously approved permissive transfer request, and desire to remain in such school, will continue to be assigned to that building through the grade levels of that school. Once a student is set to leave elementary school for middle school, the student would be assigned to their home middle school unless a permissive transfer request is received from the parent/guardian and approved by the district.

  • Those students who already attend a school based on a permissive transfer are not required to resubmit a request.
  • Final decisions regarding such requests will be the responsibility of the Superintendent or his/her designee.
  • All requests for transfers must be submitted via the Google Form by May 31, 2025. Transfer requests will not be approved if space is not available for additional students.
  • Notification of the decision to grant, or not grant, the request will be communicated with parents and/or guardians during the first week of August 2025.
  • Students who are granted a transfer within the District shall be responsible for their own transportation and punctual attendance.
