Our district and its schools are the centers of the community. As such, the district believes that community engagement and collaboration between our staff, parents and residents are pivotal to the success of our students.
Annual Report
District 62 has maintained financial recognition status by the Illinois State Board of Education for the last 17 years. Financial recognition is the highest designation for a school district to receive.
I am very excited about our future here in District 62. We are focused on several key initiatives that are centered around supporting children with their academic as well as social emotional needs. Our team is also very focused on enhancing our safety measures in the district.

District News Highlights
Orchard Place Elementary School collaborated with the organization Operation North Pole tp provide winter coats for all students.

Iroquois hosted its annual Fall Music Concert in November for families and friends.

Cumberland's fourth graders took part in a culture fair last week in which the students interviewed their family members about their cultural traditions, food, clothing, music and more.

Forest Elementary School hosted its annual Family Literacy Night last week.

The students at the ELC had a fun time particpating in the Fall Fest parade.

Flight Club at Algonquin Middle School is all about aviation.

Terrace fourth graders had a fun English assignment in which they could take a classic fairy tale and put their own spin on it.

The Kiwanis Club of Des Plaines recently sponsored an amazing event that resulted in 159 children getting a new pair of shoes or boots!

Second and third graders at South Elementary School said thank you to veterans in a musical performance this week.

Plainfield Elementary School embarked upon a journey to celebrate World Kindness Day this week and to spread kindness throughout the school community.

Celebrate 62
We were very happy to showcase the artwork that is on proud display at our Administration Center which we have now termed “Celebrate 62”.
Winter Card Contest
Over 30 entries were submitted this year.
All entries will be on display at the Des Plaines Public Library through the month of December.
The winning design will become District 62’s official winter card that will be mailed out next month to the community.
Middle School Students You Should Know
District 62 middle school students were recognized at the May 15 Board of Education Meeting as part of the Middle School Students You Should Know recognition program.
