BOE President's Message
Dear Students, Families and Staff of District 62,
Summer is here and it is time to recharge, regroup and most importantly relax with the knowledge that the 2024-2025 year will begin in no time. Until then, take time with your loved ones and enjoy.
As we continue to celebrate the end of the 2023-2024 school year, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank each one of you for another great year.
To the staff that is retiring, thank you for everything you have done over the years. Through your dedication and leadership, you taught the children of District 62 that the world is a better place. To the students moving on to high school, you will be greatly missed. I invite you to please stop by from time to time and tell us about your experiences. Remember, all of you are what makes D62 great and never forget it.
Moving forward, we are in the opening phases of a new strategic plan which is very exciting. Our new strategic plan should guide the district for the next five years and will be the map that leads us to improved test scores, the addition of full day kindergarten, building updates, and laying the foundation for the success of our students for many years to come.
In addition to educational pursuits, we are actively working on improving some of our existing facilities, adding fully accessible playgrounds, converting underutilized space into classrooms, enhancing security and working with various community organizations to give our students the best academic experience they can possibly have.
On the staffing front, our Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael Amadei has signed on for four more years and we have some new hires and promotions that are in place and ready to hit the ground running for the next school year. We are confident that this group will be a welcome and productive addition to our leadership team.
As always, the Board of Education continues its commitment to being more visible in the community. If you see us, I invite you to say hello and introduce yourself. We love hearing from you and truly want to know what you think. The more information we have from our stakeholders the better equipped we are to provide the best possible education for the children of Des Plaines and Rosemont. With all the families, staff and administrators working together I have absolutely no doubt that D62 can be the best school district in Illinois.
Please have a happy and healthy summer. I look forward to seeing you when school starts up.
Thank you again for your commitment to CCSD62!
Sincerely,
Ronald Burton
