District 62 students participated in the 2025 Region B Basketball Skills Special Olympics at Niles West High School in Skokie on December 7.

At the November 17 Board of Education Meeting, District 62 recognized the winners of its 2025 Winter Card Contest.

District 62 recently hosted representatives from Singapore's Ministry of Education to learn more about our journey in implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) across the district's Multi-Tiered System of Supports.

For the fourth year in a row dozens of seniors, as well as several community leaders, judged the entries of the D62 annual winter card contest at the Frisbie Senior Center. 

Members of the D62 Education Foundation had a fun time visiting different schools throughout the district and surprising staff members with grants they had applied for earlier in the school year.

District 62's 10-month first through eighth graders were welcomed back to school on August 21, while preschool and kindergartners started school on August 22. 

On Tuesday, August 19 D62 staff members gathered together in the Algonquin Middle School gymnasium to kick off the 2025-2026 school year! 

Community Consolidated School District 62, along with the City of Des Plaines Police Department, hosted a National Night Out at the Westerhold Early Learning Center/Algonquin Middle School campus.

Central Elementary School student Ayana K. will have the honor of having her picture on a billboard in the Chicagoland throughout the month of August! 

District 62 brought four athletes to the Special Olympics Summer Games in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois at the end of June.

Students, families, staff and community members celebrated the grand opening of its second new, fully accessible playground at Forest Elementary School, 1375 South Fifth Avenue, Des Plaines, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 2. 

Dozens of students and staff were celebrated at the May 19 Board of Education meeting.

On May 16 Community Consolidated School District 62 held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate that grand opening of a new, fully accessible playground at Cumberland Elementary School.   

Community Consolidated School District 62 recognized and thanked its twenty 2024-2025 retirees with a celebration at Fountain Blue Banquets. 

North Elementary School students took the top three spots in this year's Des Plaines Optimist Poster Contest! 

District 62 student Aidan Marshall was among those students selected from more than 80 school districts to receive the Infinitec Technology Achievement Award this month.

Community Consolidated School District 62 recognized those students whose artwork was selected to be featured as part of Gallery 62.

The D62 Fine Arts Music Programs are hosting their annual Solo and Ensemble Music Festivals at each of the three middle schools: Algonquin Middle School, Chippewa Middle School and Iroquois Community School. 

Thank you to everyone who came out to eat pizza and vote on their favorite slice at the D62 Education Foundation's 2nd Annual Pizza Wars!

District 62 eighth graders from Iroquois Community School, as well as Algonquin and Chippewa Middle Schools, attended a live musical performance of The Little Mermaid at Maine West High School.

While students had the day off, D62 staff gathered together at Algonquin Middle School on February 18 to listen to a keynote speaker as part of their Professional Learning Day.  

The winners of the first-ever D62 Education Foundation Spelling Bee were recognized at the February 18 Board of Education Meeting.

Iroquois Community School's PTC hosted its first Pancake & PJ Event.

Local author, Fern Schumer Chapman, visited Algonquin Middle School 8th grade students on Friday, January 24.

The D62/Maine West Band Festival brought together 7th and 8th Grade Band Ensembles from all three D62 middle schools for an inspiring day of music, collaboration and growth.

District 62 Technology Specialist and drummer, Mr. Pablo Sands, showed Iroquois percussion students how to set up, care for and tune the new drum set purchased by the district.

The annual Des Plaines holiday tree lighting took place on Friday, December 6 in Metropolitan Square.

The annual District 62 / Maine West Choral Festival was held on Thursday, October 24 at Maine West High School.

Twenty-two colorful and unique pieces of art adorn the second floor of the Leon Smaage Administration Center, 777 East Algonquin Road. 

On Friday, August 16, more than 900 D62 staff members gathered together in the Algonquin Middle School gymnasium to kick off the 2024-2025 school year! 

All of the D62 first through eighth graders were welcomed back to school on August 20, while preschool and kindergartners started school on August 21. 

On the evening of Thursday, August 8, the English Language (EL) Department held a newcomer family event.

Twenty-seven District 62 middle school students were recognized at the May 20 Board of Education Meeting as part of the Middle School Students You Should Know recognition program.

All of the Southside elementary schools (Forest, Orchard Place, South and Plainfield) 5th grade band and orchestra students performed their final concert of the school year at Algonquin Middle School on May 16.

D62 choir students recently participated in the Des Plaines Choral Festival at Maine West High School, a musical collaboration that consisted of choir students from elementary, middle and high school grade levels.

Despite the rainy and cold weather, a number of groups from the district made it out to the annual tree decorating event in downtown Des Plaines on December 1.

The Kiwanis Club of Des Plaines recently sponsored an amazing event that resulted in 159 children getting a new pair of shoes or boots! 

The EL Department hosted a family event on November 8 to support families who are new to the country.

Des Plaines--Community Consolidated School District 62 will host a paraeducator job fair from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on October 25 at the Jane L. Westerhold Learning Learning Center, 1375 South Fifth Avenue, Des Plaines.

It's hard to believe our 10-month schools returned last week.

Last week, Algonquin Middle School and Chippewa Middle School welcomed incoming sixth graders to their new learning communities.

This summer Plainfield Elementary school received a well overdue new parking lot, curbs and sidewalks.

For Parent University on Friday June 9th, our parents and students enjoyed a visit to the Des Plaines library and a Field Day afterwards.

ICS Music Students Take a Trip Downtown

On April 25 students from all 11 CCSD62 schools had their artwork recognized at a reception held at the Des Plaines Public Library as part of the 2022-2023 Library Art Show.

Nearly 200 people attended the D62 Education Foundation's annual trivia night at the end of April at the Frisbie Senior Center. More than $8,400 was raised that evening, which will directly benefit the staff and students of District 62.
