About Terrace

Approximately 231 students in grades K-5 attend Terrace School. We are part of Community Consolidated School District 62. Students leave Terrace School and go on to Chippewa Middle School.

Terrace School has a teaching staff of 20 certified teachers. Teachers have an average of 12 years experience (the Illinois state average is 13.6 years). In our building, 63% of our teachers have earned a Master’s degree or above, while 100% of our teachers have earned a Bachelor’s degree.

The pupil to teacher ratio for Terrace School is 23:1. The State of Illinois averages 18.9 : 1 ratio of students to teachers.  Terrace School has 7% of its students qualifying for low-income services (compared to 40% for the entire state). These students are from families receiving public aid, living in institutions for neglected or delinquent children, being supported in foster homes with public funds, or eligible to receive free or reduced-price lunches.
