District 62 Technology Overview
The following technology systems are currently in use in Community Consolidated School District 62:
Approximately 1,900 Apple Macintosh desktop and laptop computers running Mac OS X and Mac OS 9. Models consist primarily of iMac, eMac, and iBook with G3 and G4 processors.
Approximately 50 servers including file servers, web servers, and administrative systems running Mac OS X Server, Windows 2003 Server, and UNIX. Servers consist primarily of Apple Xserves.
6 database servers running FileMaker Pro, FileMaker Pro Server, FileMaker Pro Server Advanced.
Wide Area Network (T-1 backbone) connects 13 district buildings (11 schools, 1 administration center, and 1 maintenance building).
Local Area Networks (fiber optic backbone) in each of eleven district schools.
Wireless networks (802.11b/g) in each of 13 district buildings running on Apple AirPort and Airport Extreme bases stations.
