Vision and Hearing Services

Programs for the Visually Impaired

District 62 provides itinerant vision services to students with sight impairments. Teachers of the Visually Impaired and Orientation & Mobility Specialists serve students according to their individual needs and severity of the vision conditions.

Hearing Impaired Programs

The LICA program serves students who are deaf and hard of hearing ages birth to 21, who reside within 45 local school districts in the north and northwest suburbs of Chicago.  A full continuum of educational options is available to students who are eligible for specialized educational programs and services due to the impact of a hearing loss.  District 62 houses several instructional classes for children who are deaf or hard of hearing at Forest School. Hearing impaired programs are provided through Low Incidence Cooperative Agreement (LICA).
