Special Programs Arranged Regarding Kids
Baby Talk - Programs for families with children from birth to three years of age. Baby Talk classes are designed as a parent/child interactive class offering age appropriate songs, books, playtime, and finger plays while sharing celebrations and challenges while gathering in a nurturing atmosphere for play. Using recent brain research on infant development as a model, this program will train, educate and support parents in a variety of ways. Topics covered are: language and literacy, child growth and development, and appropriate, positive discipline techniques.

Mini School-This program is designed for children who turn three years of age after September 1st and before January 1st. Mini School is a biweekly class offered in conjunction with the Baby Talk education program. It is designed for young 3's that miss the cut off date for fall preschool registration. Students enjoy free play, art, singing, stories, and a snack.

 

Baby Book Times-Designed for children birth to 2-1/2 years of age and their parents. Participants listen to stories, sing songs, and engage in interactive play with other infants and toddlers. During each forty minute session, the group spends time discussing the joys and challenges of raising children. Parenting and age appropriate literacy information is distributed at the end of the class. Classes are offered in English and Spanish.

 

Book Times for 2's
Two year olds and their parents experience programming in a District classroom setting. Classes meet for 1-1/4 hour, once a week. Parents and their children spend time exploring a variety of educational materials and equipment. After free play time, the group comes together to sing songs, listen to stories and share parenting tips. Classes are offered in English and Spanish.

 

Parents as Teachers (P.A.T. Program)- A home visitation program empowering parents with skills necessary to create a learning environment for children.
