History of the School

South holds a historic place in Des Plaines. The building was originally constructed in the late 20s and early 30s. South was the third school to be built in District 62. In 1950, ten rooms were added on to the building. The school and its community held an Open House celebration on October 22, 1950. In 1968, another addition was completed that included the current gym and LMC.
