When returning District 62 students arrived at school, many of them were greeted by new teachers and staff. District-wide, forty-three new teaching staff were hired this year.

Out of the 43 teachers hired, 58% hold bachelor’s degrees and 42% hold master’s degrees. The majority of the new teachers attended Loyola University, National Louis University, the University of Illinois, and Northern Illinois University. With a record number of retirees, many of the new staff replaced these positions. The greatest need was in Special Education with 15 new staff added including Speech Pathologists, School Psychologists, and Social Workers. The next greatest need for staff was at the middle school level with 14 staff added.
