Winter Card Design Program

Call For Student Entries 2016
District 62 Students - Enter the Winter Card Design Contest!

The School District 62 Community Relations Department invites all kindergarten through eighth grade District 62 students to participate in a contest to design a winter greeting card for School District 62. The first place winner's design will appear on a card that will be sent during the holiday season and displayed on the district’s website. The first place winner will also be honored at the Monday, November 21, 2016 Board of Education meeting, where he/she will receive a deluxe first place certificate. Students who have designed the top three entries including ties will also be honored by the Board of Education.

Due Wednesday, October 12, 2016 to your School Secretary.

Entries must be no larger than 5 x 7 inches in size. Artwork should reflect a winter theme, which could include cardinals, birds, trees, nature, mittens, snowflakes, snowmen, animals etc. The design should be in color and must be able to be reproduced.

Entries should be placed in an envelope labeled “School District 62 Winter Greeting Card Design” and given to the student’s school office by Wednesday, October 12, 2016. School District 62 is not responsible for damage, so students should keep copies of their work.

Students should include their name and school on the back of their submission. A completed parent/guardian release form must also accompany each entry.

Chippewa Middle School Student Wins 2014 Winter Card Design Contest

President Brenda Murphy awarded first place to Janejira Nasaree, Chippewa Middle School, in the 2014 District 62 Winter Card Design Contest.

Nasaree, a sixth grade student, designed a card featuring various animals enjoying a wintery meal in forest. Representatives from the Des Plaines Arts Council, Des Plaines Park District, Des Plaines Public Library, Des Plaines History Center, and Maine 207 judged 110 entries on grade appropriate execution, originality, and creativity.

The winning design is featured on the 2014 District 62 holiday season card. All entries will be displayed from December 5, 2014 – January 5, 2014 at the Des Plaines Public Library. Each artist will receive a participation certificate.

Second and third place winners were also honored by the Board of Education. They are:

    Krya Harrington, Iroquois Community School, Grade 5
    Christina Vorukova, Central Elementary School, Grade 5
