Gallery 62 Student Art Exhibit – A kaleidoscope of art elements, moods, emotions, ideas, and values were displayed at the March Board of Education meeting, as twelve students and their art teachers presented original student works to the Board of Education as a part of the Gallery 62 Art Exhibit. Chippewa Middle School Student Wins 2011 Winter Card Design Contest
President Brenda Murphy awarded first place to Ashton Smith, Chippewa Middle School, in the 2011 District 62 Winter Card Design Contest. Smith, an eighth grade student, designed a card featuring wolves in a wintery forest. The Des Plaines Arts Council judged 42 entries on grade appropriate execution, originality, and creativity.
The winning design is featured on the 2011 card that the District distributes during the holiday season. All entries will be displayed from December 2, 2011-January 9, 2012 at the Des Plaines Public Library. Each artist will receive a participation certificate.
Second and third place winners were also honored by the Board of Education. They are:
