	Construction has begun! Construction has started at Cumberland, Chippewa, Algonquin, Forest, and the grounds at Iroquois. Students from Ms. Leah Strom’s 4th grade class have taken construction safety seriously and offer this educational & entertaining video. (Time 00:06:59) Student Resources 2009 Winter Card Design Winner Announced Bhagirath Mehta, Iroquois Community School fourth grader, captured first place with a drawing of a snowman surrounded by animal friends. His design is featured on the winter greeting card that is sent to community leaders by the Board of Education and the Superintendent. His artistic talents must run in the family since his sister, Haripriya, won the first winter card design contest. Gabriella Bergman, Chippewa Middle School, and Alec Paschos, Terrace Elementary School, placed second and third, respectively. Seventy-seven pre-kindergarten through eighth grade students entered the fourth annual design contest, which was judged by members of the Des Plaines Arts Council. The top 20 card design entrants were honored by the Board of Education. All entries will be on display in the Des Plaines Public Library Community Room Reception area from Wednesday, December 2 until Monday, January 5. Gallery 62 Student Art Exhibit A kaleidoscope of art elements, moods, emotions, ideas, and values were displayed at the April Board of Education meeting, as twelve students and their art teachers presented original student works to the Board of Education as a part of the Gallery 62 Art Exhibit. Each student-teacher team focused on the lessons, the tools, the techniques, and the cultural heritage or aesthetic values that were represented in each piece. Read more...
