H1N1 Influenza (swine flu) Update
School District 62 participates in a federally funded program that will allow the Cook County Department of Public Health (CCDPH) to set up vaccination clinics in our schools to administer free voluntary vaccinations for the H1N1 influenza virus to children who attend District 62 schools, and to employees in the priority groups. Parental consent will be required.
The voluntary H1N1 school vaccination program will begin in District 62 schools as follows:
NOVEMBER 30 - Chippewa Middle School, Central Elementary School, South Elementary School, North Elementary School, Iroquois Community School, and Plainfield Elementary School
DECEMBER 1 - Orchard Place Elementary, Cumberland Elementary School, Terrace Elementary School, Algonquin Middle School, and Forest Elementary School
Students, faculty or staff with influenza-like illness should stay home and not attend school or go into the community except to seek medical care for at least 7 days even if symptoms resolve sooner. Students, faculty and staff should stringently follow sanitary measures to reduce the spread of influenza. Patients exhibiting flu-like symptoms will only be tested for H1N1 if they are admitted to the hospital.
