Professional
Development
School District 62, as a Professional Learning Community, provides
an array of professional development activities for teachers and
other school staff to enhance their professional skills:
- U62 (University 62) courses are offered to improve instruction and promote lifelong learning. Learn more about U62.
- New teachers participate in an induction and mentoring program
that follows the Charlotte Danielson Framework.
- Staff Development workshops for district-wide initiatives
and mandates are presented during designated Institute Days and
other district-wide professional development days.
- Staff development activities are developed at each school to
address instructional priorities at the local school level.
- Teachers meet on a regular basis during common planning time
to share ideas, articulate common assessment and collaboratively
plan instruction.
- Through various grants, teachers and assistants participate in
workshops to develop instructional knowledge and skills in a specific
academic discipline.
- Some scholarships are available to attend university courses
leading to a higher degree
