Let’s celebrate a wonderful school year! All OP students and their families are invited to attend OP’s annual Academic Celebration on May 22 at 7:00 p.m. This event is a school-wide open house, during which students and their families may visit the classrooms and celebrate all that our students have learned this year!

The Barrel of Monkeys theater group will be returning to OP on May 28. The group of actors spent two days at OP in March, conducting writing activities with OP students in grade 1 through 5. The actors have been hard at work adapting the students’ stories into short plays. On May 28 at 9:30 a.m., they will perform these plays for the OP students and staff! Parents are welcome to attend!

Orchard Place would like to congratulate Jeannie Hiller, MaryEllen Sagartz, and Joan Wigginton on their retirement. Please join us on Thursday, May 28 at 2:30 p.m. in the school gym for a special assembly to honor these three outstanding educators for their years of service to District 62 and Orchard Place Elementary School. A reception in the teacher’s lounge will follow.

Orchard Place students will participate in various games and activities during Field Day on June 3. Field Day activities will take place throughout the day and will follow an Olympic theme. Mr Schellhorn is organizing this event. The PTO will be providing lunch for the students and staff. If you would like to help out with the Field Day lunch, please contact the OP PTO.

June 4 is the last day of school for Kindergarten students. June 5 is the last day of school for students in grades 1 through 5. Have a safe and wonderful summer! We’ll see you in August!

Eventos Especiales

¡Celebremos un maravilloso año escolar! Todas los estudiantes y las familias de OP están invitados a asistir a la Celebración Académica del año escolar 2007-2008 el 22 de mayo a las 7:00 p.m. ¡Este evento abre las puertas de la escuela para que los estudiantes y sus familias visiten los salones y celebren todo lo que los estudiantes han aprendido en este año!

El grupo teatral “Barrel of Monkeys” regresará a OP el 28 de mayo. El grupo de actores pasó dos días en OP durante el mes de marzo, llevando a cabo actividades de escritura con los niños de 1ro a 5to. Los actores han estado trabajando muy duro adaptando los escritos de los estudiantes de OP para convertirlos en pequeñas obras teatrales. ¡El 28 de mayo a las 9:30 a.m., ellos presentarán estas obras de teatro para todos los estudiantes y el personal! ¡Todos los padres son bienvenidos!

Orchard Place quiere felicitar a Jeannie Hiller, MaryEllen Sagartz, y Joan Wigginton por su retiro. Por favor únanse a nosotros el jueves, 28 de mayo a las 2:30 p.m. en el gimnasio de la escuela en una asamblea especial en honor a estas tres grandiosas educadoras por sus años de servicio en el Distrito 62 y en la escuela Elemental Orchard Place. Una recepción en el salón de maestros seguirá a la asamblea.

Los estudiantes de Orchard Place participarán en una variedad de actividades y juegos durante el Día de Juegos el 3 de junio. Las actividades del Día de Juegos se llevarán a cabo a través del día y girarán alrededor del tema de las Olimpiadas. El Sr. Schellhorn está organizando este evento. La Organización de Padres y Maestros (PTO) proveerá almuerzo para los niños y maestros. Si le gustaría ayudar con el almuerzo del Día de Juegos, comuníquese con la Organización de Padres y Maestros de OP.

El 4 de junio es el último día de clases para los estudiantes de Kindergarten. El 5 de junio es el último día de clases para los estudiantes de 1ro a 5to grado. ¡Qué tengan un verano maravilloso y seguro! ¡Nos veremos en agosto!
