OPTV

Orchard Place TV: by kids, for kids.

Orchard Place School is home to its own student-run television station – OPTV. Our students are able to produce a daily school broadcast live from the studio to each classroom in the building. The studio is also open to teachers to use as a curriculum tool to produce skits, plays, commercials public service messages etc. At various times during the year the Des Plaines Local Cable Access channel broadcasts our shows and specials events. All of our students will have an opportunity to be active participants on the OPTV at various times during the year while all 5th graders have the opportunity to run the studio on a rotational basis. Their involvement includes:

• Researching and writing scripts for daily broadcasts
• Anchoring
• Working in the control room with specialized studio equipment (editing, recording, sound, video editing)
• Lights, teleprompter operation, cameras
• Interviewing
