PBIS
North School and PBIS
(Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports)
At
the end of the 2003-2004 school year North School began to implement
the
PBIS system. Full implementation usually takes 4 to 5 years. The
2006-2007
school year marks the begining of the third full year of PBIS at
North School.
PBIS is a system that organizes adults and students
to create a social-culture in a
school that encourages positive behavior and interactions while discouraging
problem behaviors. This social-culture will lead to a safer environment
where
students achieve academically and build positive relationships with
each other and
with adults. PBIS helps adults and children at North School behave
in a safe and
respectful way so that students are ready to learn.
