Mrs. Donoghue’s 5th grade class received $100.00 gift card from Sam’s Club. The gift card was used to teach students how to purchase food. At Sam’s Club the students worked together to find the items on the list, compared quantities and prices, discussed how much to purchase of each item, and used a calculator to make sure we stayed within budget. After shopping the students worked together preparing and serving the food. It was a lot of work, but the students enjoyed the experience. It was a great real world math lesson.
