Foundation Grant funds Author’s Visit to D62 Middle Schools

Author, Liesl Shurtliff, visited Algonquin and Chippewa Middle School on Friday, October 23rd. Shurtliff shared what her life was like growing up, how she struggled with reading, and how she eventually became an author because she enjoyed creating stories. She described the writing process and how important it is to revise your writing and ask others help you with the process. During two presentations, Shurtliff and some of the middle schoolers staged a Reader’s Theatre about the fairy tale “Rumpelstiltskin”:, which is the story her book “Rump” is based on. Erin Wengerhoff and Emily Conti, D62 LMC Specialists, worked together to plan these events and bring Shurtliff to Chippewa and Algonquin.

Thank you to Liesl Shurtliff for appearing at AMS & CMS. Thank you to the D62 Foundation for the generous grant to bring Shurtliff to District 62.
