Keeping Our Children Safe – Back to School is an important time for District 62 students and families. Sadly, it’s also an important day for Stranger Dangers. District 62 works closely with the District 62 school resource officer, local police departments, and our staff to ensure the safety of our students. Learn more...

A Parent’s Role in Student and Staff Safety

Recently, the District 62 Safety Committee met to review the District’s Safety Plan and Procedures. The safety and well being of our students and staff is a priority at School District 62. Our goal is for all students to learn in safe environments. Because of recent school safety events, the committee recommended issuing a reminder about the District’s visitor procedures and crisis communications.

ALL outside doors are locked during the school day. All visitors and parents must enter the building by way of the main door (Door 1) near the office. Visitors and parents must sign in / sign out and secure a visitor or volunteer badge from the school office before going to any location within the school building. This policy is in effect before school, during school, and after school. A buzzer entry with a camera is installed next to the front door entry. Visitors should look directly into the camera and state their reason(s) for visiting.

AlertNow is the method used by District 62 to communicate with parents in an emergency. It is very important that parents provide accurate emergency information during registration. Parents should also contact their school secretary if their phone numbers or email addresses change. Parents may also register for text messaging. All emergency messages are issued by the District Administration Center.

Thank you for your help and support of our efforts to keep our students and staff safe.
