Student Resources
Goals:
To create a school group that:
- helps build a sense of school spirit at Algonquin
- is a forum for community service projects
- organizes fun and safe school events, including dances that are targeted for all Algonquin students
- builds student leadership and organization skills
- raises money for specified organizations, including the purchase of student assignment notebooks
Methods:
- Organize at least four community service projects within the school calendar year
- Organize 3 school dances
- Break the student council into different committees every quarter to be the organizers
- Organize and promote school spirit days
General Meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday of the month. They are subject to change. Please check with the sponsors and listen to morning announcements.

President
8th grader
1 year of Student Council experience
Attend all meetings and events
Two (2) written endorsements from faculty members
Demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities
Motivate and guide other Student Council members in activities
Lead meetings
Vice President
7th or 8th grader
No Student Council experience needed
Attend all meetings and events
Two (2) written endorsements from faculty members
Demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities
Motivate and guide other Student Council members in activities
Assist President
Secretary
6th, 7th or 8th grader
No Student Council experience needed
Attend all meetings and events
Two (2) written endorsements from faculty members
Demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities
Motivate and guide other Student Council members in activities
Record all meeting minutes
Coordinate promotion of Student Council events
Treasurer
6th, 7th or 8th grader
No Student Council experience needed
Attend all meetings and events
Two (2) written endorsements from faculty members
Demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities
Motivate and guide other Student Council members in activities
Keep accurate records of all expenditures and profits
Provide Student Council with budget reports
ALL MEMBERS
6th, 7th or 8th grader
No Student Council experience needed

Demonstrate positive role-model qualities
Motivate and guide other Student Council members in activities
ANY Student Council member who does not meet the stated requirements or has demonstrated questionable behavior will have their membership reviewed.
