To equip our students with the
skills necessary for their success as responsible citizens, productive workers,
and lifelong learners by providing the best possible educational climate,
curriculum, resources, and staff.

PTC Sponsored Activities and Events
- Book fair: This event is held twice a year and
offers families a selection of Scholastic books and assorted accessories at a
reasonable price. You can order
online at www.scholastic.com.
- Box Tops: “Box Tops for Education” are collected
throughout the year. You can find
Box Tops on brands such as Cherrios®, Betty Crocker®, Pillsbury®, Ziploc®,
Kleenex®, Hefty® and more! For more information go to www.boxtops4education.com.
- Campbell’s Labels: “Labels for Education” is a great way
to get FREE merchandise for our school. You can find Campbell’s labels on Soups, Franco-American®,
Spaghetti-O’s®, Prego® pasta sauces, Swanson® broths and canned poultry,
Pepperidge Farm® items, V8 Splash® beverages and many more! For more information go to www.labelsforeducation.com.
- Calendar/Directory: For your PTC membership fee, you will receive a calendar/directory
that will list most school events, holidays/days off and meetings. Also, you will get a school directory
that lists children and parents by classroom.
- Call Tree: This person will start the phone
tree to communicate with parents when school has been closed due to weather
conditions.
- Caucus: The Des Plaines School Board Caucus
selects candidates for the general election of Des Plaines District 62 School
Board. Currently, we have 2
representatives from our school who attend meetings, interview candidates and
vote for the final candidates’ endorsements.
- Cookie Parent: Few times during the year, parents will
be called upon to bring in baked or purhcased goods for special events.
- Cultural Arts:
The purpose and goalof Cultural Arts at Forest School is to strengthen
andsupport student's classroom curriculum through artistic, educational,
and entertaining programs. The Cultural Arts Committee provides 7 to 9
assemblies per academic year.
- Field Day: The children play their favorite games
and end it with a hot dog lunch.
- Holiday Tree in Down Town Des Plaines: The
city of Des Plaines sets up a tree for each area school for children to make
personalized decorations. Decorating ornaments will take place after school. Decorating will take place November 28
after school.
- Halloween Spooktacular: This annual event is held at Forest School. There is a haunted house, face painting, cake walk, DJ,
games and more.
- Holiday Store: In December, the PTC offers a variety of items at a reasonable price to
purchase for that special someone.
- Hospitality: Organized and dispersed funds to room
parents. Shall arrange for
refreshments for all PTO related functions.
- Jump Rope for the Heart: The Hospitality
Committee provides support for refreshments for this annual event held by
Forest School Staff.
- Market Day: Monthly order sheets are provided to
parents to send into school or order over the internet at www.marketday.com . Pick up days are 9/20; 10/18; 11/15;
12/20; 1/17; 2/7; 3/6; 4/10; 5/5; 6/2 in the Multi-Purpose room. A minimum of 10% of the gross sales are
given back to Forest School. Forest School receives a 5%credit if you purchase Market Day at Sara
Lee® Outlet stores and through Pea Pod®. Just tell the clerk the school name.
- Membership and Welcome: Your $10.00 family
membership fee funds classroom holiday parties and entitles you to a Forest
School student directory.
- Movie Night: Parents and children are invited to
watch a movie in the multi-purpose room while enjoying snacks purchased at our
concession stand. Children can
wear pajamas and bring sleeping bags and pillows.
- Program Planning: Responsible for
organizing activities, food and volunteers for these PTC Sponsored Events: Annual All-School Halloween party,
Holiday Store. Organizes Forest School Night at the Wolves Game.
- Publicity: A monthly newsletter is published for
parents to communicate what is happening at Forest School.
- Room Parents: Parents who help in the classroom
during holiday parents. You may be
called upon to celebrate your classroom’s teacher during Teacher Appreciation
Week.
- School Kits: At the end of the school year, parents
have the opportunity to pre-order school supplies for the fall. This event is not a fundraiser but a
convenience for the parents.
- School Store: The School Store is open for kids to
purchase school supplies at a reasonable price. The School Store is open 2 days a week during lunch hours
and is staffed by fifth graders.
- Teacher Appreciation Week: This
week is filled with food and appreciation for our teachers and staff at Forest.
- Teacher Grants: Every year, the PTC votes on funds
(based on availability) designated to help teachers and staff purchase items
that would benefit the children.
- Take Charge of Education®: The
“Target Take Charge of Education®” program allows us to raise funds for our
school. All you have to do is use
your Target ® Visa® or Target® Card, and a percentage of the amount of each
purchase you make goes back to our school in the form of a cash donation. Visit www.target.com/tcoe to designate our
school.
- Volunteer Coordinator: The Volunteer
Coordinator facilitates collecting information from parents who are interested
in volunteering in the school.
- Ways and Means: Various fundraising events are planned
throughout the year to support the school. If you would like to purchase Entertainment Books, they are available through March. Their website is www.entertainment.com and reference account

- Yearbooks: PTC Members help coordinate gathering
of photos to chronicle the school year and organize the yearbook for
publication.
- Volunteers: We need you to make all of the above possible. Come to our meetings or contact us to
find out what else we do and how you can be involved!
